Life sometimes throws unexpected challenges into our path. How we respond to those challenges lays the groundwork for our future. For me personally, the challenge was my diagnosis of Rheumatoid Arthritis at age 19. Despite this chronic illness, I was able to finish graduate school and embark on my career in education. But a few years into it, I had to resign due to complications with my chronic illness. Suddenly, I had to carve out a new identity for myself without my academic career. Luckily, I had great friends and an amazing family support system during this time of discovery. In 2011, I started on a new journey with Zayver Designs.
Having this second career has given me the strength to step out of my comfort zone and create a new identity as a businesswoman and creative director. It has been great to have an awesome team that has helped make Zayver Designs what it is today. The environment in Houston for women in business is so supportive and inspiring. Through our membership with the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce and the Arthritis Foundation, we have connected with so many amazing women. They have not only become clients but also close friends. It is hard to believe that we will be celebrating our 6th year of Zayver Designs on November 9th! We are planning a big party and we hope you can join us too. More details to follow!
